2 surprised mothers, making pie and a water slide: MONDAY BLUEBERRY DAY

Today was the last Play Day for 2023 so I wore my rainbow dress. Over half of the friends will head to new schools next month and the others will be back with us in September. The classroom went from really loud to really quiet a few times which felt appropriate for the day. Read on for some questions and answers…

What was the loud banging noise at the beginning of the day? Dot painters! A project that everyone did before Circle Time was trying to match the shade of the real blueberries with our dot painters. Using blue, purple and black shades, there were some very realistic shades! Here is a link to a live video of it!

We started inside today so that we could end the day with full on water play (and not have to bring our wet and dirty bodies inside). These sweet kids played hard and fast in every corner of the room.

What pictures were on the bottom of the paint papers? The surprised mothers from Blueberries for Sal! The human mother was surprised that the little bear was following her and the bear mother was surprised that the little human was following her. We read through the book when we went to Circle Time. This was one of the very quiet times. We also looked at pictures of one friend who picked real blueberries on a trip. She said they tasted better than any blueberries she ever had from a store!

Such a cozy story time…I love letting children choose what they need for their best story experience

What was on your little plate at snack time? Blueberries, a mini puff pastry crust and crackers. Ms Eliza walked around with whipped cream for anyone who wanted some on their pie or on their plate. Some people had blueberries under the whipped cream and on top of the whipped cream! Then we took the whipped cream and crackers outside for anyone who wanted more.

Where did Ms Kristin put the hose for the first time ever? On the slide! First we put the hose on the little plastic slide and then decided to put it on the slide at the top of the hill. It was very satisfying! We still had other slides that weren’t water slides if people wanted a dry experience.

These two figured out that the magnet wands can work on other boards!

At the end of the day, we wished each other well, got our last day certificates and chose bubbles to take home. Hooray for a fun July and school year together!

FUNNY FACT FROM TODAY: Ms Kristin and a friend wore the same shoes today so good thing we didn’t get too mixed up today.
