Our Wednesday “Green Day” Class was a fun one to be with today. Our play was constructive and the whole class was very attentive to our Circle Time game about comforting techniques. Even though we’re only in our 3rd week of school, these friends are adapting so well to new routines and me changing the schedule up! Read on to find answers to 5 questions!

1. What did you pull out of the bucket at Circle Time?

There were 15 comfort items in a big bucket with a funny lid at Circle Time. Ms Kristin showed each item and explained why or how they might be comforting to people. Then they all went back in the bucket and friends could reach in to pull one out. The focus was incredible.

2. What did you draw in your journal today?

Ms Kristin had a cat sticker in everyone’s journal today. Some people drew food, water, toys, cat poop, cat pee, leashes and more!

3. What C things did we eat today?
Thanks to Malcolm, we had “Mama Chips” (Cheddar Sun Chips), cantaloupe and Coconut Chocolate Carmel Cookies. Grandpa Kelven was a busy Snack Store!

(The above two photos were in response to a direct request that I take a picture of them actively eating for their family to see.)
During Snack Time, Ms Kristin added our Green Day friends photos to the DO YOU HAVE A CAT AT HOME chart. There was some rearranging of photos so that all siblings could have their photos next to each other.

4. What is on the ceiling over our Big Table?
Underwear!

Years ago Ms Kristin glued some underwear fabric on a U. It remains tucked in a ceiling tile. Look for it the next time you come!
5. What did Willie Winkie cry through the lock?
“Are the children all in bed? For now it’s 8 o’clock! ” In this context, cry is another word for “yell” or “call out.”

Finishing our day outside continues to be a wonderful rhythm. The very last thing we do is “close the playground” and gather together on a rainbow blanket for Story Time. Today we read (and discussed how silly it is) Hey Diddle Diddle including the moon being out even though it is day time. Then we read an actual night time poem, Wee Willie Winkie.
BONUS: Safely hiding and being alone
We have places people can go to be alone or safely hide. The desire to be alone is honored and valid. We can designate spaces for “one at a time” on a rocking chair or certain swings. We can also create private spaces with afghans and our cubby hooks.

I got a good giggle today when I saw legs hanging out of the tunnel holes. I had no idea who it was until Auden peeked out. That evolved into other friends taking turns doing the same. A couple of friends got extra tricky and each put one leg through.
