Our Thursday “Blue Day” Class had the honor of welcoming in 2024 with M Week. We had a wonderful first day back with a Golden Letter friend too. The play was constructive and there were rounds of applause for the moments of conflict resolution that requires no teacher input. We started looking at pictures of Dr. King knowing his birthday will be celebrated later this month. In the same way he looked at himself and the world, we are looking at ourselves and the world.

A day like today reminds me of how much magic happens and we since we can’t bottle it up and send it home with you, here are five questions to learn a little bit more.
How did we know who was the helper today?
There are pictures on the helper chart. This is new! Those people can help Grandma Bonnie get snack ready and will serve as Line Leaders. Everyone’s picture will get there at some point.

One of our Helper friends was gone today so she’ll get a turn next time. The other helper was quite busy and very happy to help. Grandma Bonnie got a communion cup out to use as a scooper for the mini M&Ms. I’m excited to tell church about that on Sunday!

What does “mini” mean?

Small, tiny or “very small.” Max brought mini M&Ms and mini pretzels along with strawberries for snack today. We had fun sorting the mini M&Ms by color and visiting the snack store often.

During snack time, Ms Brenda led us in a conversation about Christmas Trees: if we have them up in our house and if we did but took it down, where is it now. Brush pile, closet and play room were the responses!
Why was there all the play dough clay, mouse ears and a bag of M&Ms in the garbage can?

The clay that Ms Kristin made was supposed to be play dough and it was so dry that it was too crumbly so she decided to throw that away.

One of the six pairs of mouse ears from the Tiny Things table broke and because it was so pokey Ms Kristin threw it away.

And the bag of M&Ms was an empty bag that we finished during snack time! What an exciting and interesting trash can!
What did you show or tell about for Show and Tell today?

Today was the first day of the 23-24 school year for Show and Tell. This group seemed to really enjoy it. Some people brought items from home and some people told us about things at their house.

Not pictured here is a detailed description of some Lego people that can be taken completely apart and put back together along with a fast monster truck that is kept in someone’s room.

What did Poppleton the pig look at before he felt bad?

We read a chapter about Poppleton, who felt sad looking in the mirror at himself. This was after someone said he was “too big.” Poppleton got some perspective and reassurance from a good friend of his and felt proud to be himself (in a new coat).

We were like Poppleton with some mirror work of our own today: Ms Kristin had a mirror box for Show and Tell and we had mirrors to make our Alphabet Project.

P.S. There is talk of snow tomorrow but these two prefer rainbows.
