paper plates + watered down glue + paint brushes + glitter + stick + tape =  new year’s ball!

there were several techniques to get the glitter on the plate.  one was to spoon it which seems like good practice for soup eating!  some preschoolers noticed that they didn’t have as much glitter on as they wanted so they went back and added more glue, then more glitter, then more glue, then more glitter.  ah, yes.  thank you to mr rob who finds himself on the finishing up end of these messy projects.

then move the ball slowly up or down while you count down after this poem (and after a bit of a geography lesson on where new york city is and after a lesson in population as you compare your city to new york city and after a conversation of transportation options once you get to new york city…):

it’s almost new year’s day
but before i go to bed,

we went for it.  100 percent.  everyone with a little cup of glitter paint, we christened the art roller for 2011.

 

 

all painted red, all lit up with no where to go.

i realize now how hard it will be to tear this down to recycle.

i’m not very good at rotating toys….i tend to want to give kids whatever toys they are interested in.  we seldom deny a child’s request for a certain puzzle or for tape or for paint.  but when i choose to save certain toys back and then bring them out, it is impressive.

the trains made an appearance in december.  this is where some friends stayed most of the day. : )  my own micah shared a big basket of his own trains…he’s growing up and out of them.
