besides dressing up, what else did we do in honor of halloween?

well, we encouraged and modeled scaaaaaary drawings.

we kept our costumes on no matter how warm it got.

we finished the “guess who” poster and added color to it.

we passed green goo  (corn syrup, food coloring and googly eyes in a sealed baggie) around as our “talking stick.”  i think this was a serious conversation based on the question:  will you go trick or treating?

we practiced trick or treating in our classroom (using the attached sunday school rooms as a “neighbor’s house”).  mr rob and i took turns being the mom or dad and being the neighbor.  with lights turned off, we stayed on the pretend sidewalk, knocked on the door, waited for the neighbor to answer, said “trick or treat” and then said “thank you.” whew!

and the grand finale of the week was using teacher tom’s pumpkin poem and scaring the parents during pick up time.

a great way to end a great week!

 

 

 

just because we aren’t allowed to have dogs IN the playground doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a friendly stray dog OUTSIDE of the playground.

preschoolers were invited to wear costumes for the week before halloween.  since we have at least one new child each day, we didn’t want anyone to miss out.  so, all week we looked like this:

every day at circle time i drew an attempted representation of each child’s costume.  some were met with pretty heavy criticism.  i took it okay.

i didn’t get mad, but things did get a little scary:

good thing mr rob brought his guitar to get things cozy again:

there were some solos and some duets.

we went on through our days as usual.  not until i saw these photos did i realize how silly it all looked.

oh, happy dress up days.  the complete “guess who drawing” to be posted soon.

 

 

we drew a fire truck on the art roller paper, taped on a few firefighter finger puppets and helped them hurry (!) to the fire!

crayon marks turned into fire or smoke or water or the siren!
