Wild waves, an elephant sitting on our heads, wooden puzzles, eating worms and hiding from the wind: THURSDAY W WEEK

Once upon a time there was a sea that was very calm. But then a big wind came and the waves got big and wild! What did the people on the boat do? What did the fish do?

Read on to learn about the wild waves, an elephant sitting on our heads, wooden puzzles, eating worms and hiding from the wind.

What did the boat and fish do in the waves?

We decided the boat would take down the sail and the people would hold on and wait it out. The fish would swim deeper down to be under the waves.

After acting it out with our blue scarves, we drew wild water waves in our journals.

What color was the elephant that sat on our heads?

Red! That was one of the reasons we knew it wasn’t a real elephant.

By singing the Raffi song, “Willaby Wollaby” we could figure out whose turn was coming next in our song game.

Could we sit in the Cozy House at Circle Time?

No. We sat next to it and around it, but not in it. Thank you, friends, for respecting this creation!

What kind of worms did you eat today?

Gummy candy worms! Thank you Golden Letter friend, Wilmer, for a wonderful W snack of wildberry muffins, white cheddar popcorn and the gummy worms! We also had our names on the cups again and a lot of helpers to set the table.

We also had a snack time conversation about how we feel about big wild waves. Here are the results:

Was it windy today?

YES! We could hear it from inside and we could feel it when we went outside to go home. We found some hiding spots from the wind behind bushes and the building.

Enjoy more video and photos of our day!

Our W puzzles were on the big table today. There were wheels, windows, watermelons, whales, walruses and the color white.

Happy Thursday, friends! May you feel held and loved today.

Baby Rosie got her wheels, a wickedly wonderful snack, wild water waves, wheel work and climbing on wood outside: WEDNESDAY W WEEK

Once upon a time there was a mama robot made out of cardboard and tape. Then one day she had a baby! Her baby was just a little garbage can with tape on it. It used to stay still at one spot until it learned how to roll on wheels! How did she get her wheels?

Read on to learn about baby Rosie’s wheels, our wickedly wonderful snack, wild water waves, wheel work and climbing on wood outside.

Where did baby Rosie’s wheels come from?

One of our scooters! Walter got the tape and secured it on.

What did we pretend the cheese sticks were?

Witch’s brooms! Malcolm and Max’s mama made us a W snack that reminded us of Halloween!

Thanks to a lot of eager helpers, we got the table set before Circle Time.

How do you feel about wild waves?

We talked about waves at Circle Time, drew them in our journal and imagined being in a boat or being a fish in the waves.

Did you ride wheels around the tables or under the tables?

The scooters will fit under the table when we lay on them but the other three do not. We have Red Roller, 3 Wheeler and Big Wobble. Those have to go around the tables.

We’ve also got a nozzle that can give fuel for a vehicle or charging for electric vehicles.

Do you climb on the logs?

We have a lot of logs to climb on at preschool. Most of them are from the old mulberry tree that had to come down a few years ago. Some friends also discovered some “flat logs” aka picnic table to climb on too!

700 gallons of water, wheels out, new old placemats, making water cold and a real puppy: TUESDAY W WEEK

Once upon a time there were 12 children and 2 teachers playing on the playground. At the very top of the hill on the other side of the fence there were two workers from the city. They had a firefighter hose but they weren’t fire fighters. They were using the fire hydrant but there was no fire. What in the world was happening?

Read on to learn more about the workers, when we got the wheels out, our new old placemats, making water cold and a real puppy.

How many gallons of water were the workers getting?

700! That’s the same amount as 700 jugs of milk.

Thank you, workers, for visiting with us while you worked. “I’m going to grow up and do that one day,” said one little friend.

When did we get the wheels out?

When everyone was done with their alphabet project!

What new thing did we use at snack time?

Placemats! While they were new to us today, they are quite old…there was a mama who made them for us when her kids were preschoolers and now they are high schoolers!

Thank you to our birthday friend and Golden Letter friend for setting the table for a wonderful snack. Then they led us outside for Show and Tell and play.

Where did they put the clay pots of water to make them cold?

In the shade.

Before looking at the book, we came up with our own ideas of how to make water cold (ice, snow, fridge, freezer) so the book gave us a surprise.

Our book shows people working with water all over the world. Ms Kristin’s favorite page is the baby getting sips from a spoon.

Who brought their real puppy for Show and Tell?

Max! Luna is an 8 week old puppy who was very sweet. She liked our soccer ball, the grass and being pet.

Thank you, Max and family, for bringing her since she couldn’t stay in the basket all day.

Before they got there, we did Show and Tell with things that were in the basket.

We have a new baby corner and our shopping cart is now a stroller.

Have a wonderful day, friends!

4 shades of blue, drinking from a bag, getting our wheels out, a wonderful W snack and being on TV: MONDAY W WEEK

Once upon a time there were 4 pieces of blue paper. They were all the same length but not the same shade of blue. What in the world were they for? It was a bit confusing, for sure!

Read on to learn more about the shades of blue, drinking from a bag, getting our wheels out, a wonderful W snack and being on TV.

What did you make with the 4 pieces of paper?

The letter W! We used different shades of blue to represent water (even though water itself is often clear or muddied). At Circle Time we had a conversation about What We Know About Water.

What did the baby have to drink water from?

A spoon! We saw a photograph of a man drinking from a bag and then a baby getting sips of water from a spoon.

Our book was full of photos of water with people all over the world.

What did we have to finish before getting the wheels out?

Our alphabet projects! Then the wheel riding toys came out. Great team work, everyone!

There were no limits on where the wheels could go, just a steady mindfulness of those around you.

What W things did Walter and Annie bring for snack?

Wheat thins, Whale crackers, Watermelon and Whipped cream!

Thanks to our Golden Letter friends, Walter and Willow, for setting the table. What a wonderful snack time!

The little guy between teachers just said it was his “best day at preschool” because he was between them,

Also, we drank water from spoons just like the baby in our book!

What is over the window of our puppet stage now?

A piece of clear plastic. According to one friend, this makes the puppet shows look like TV shows!

We added more to our Wood Sculpture from last school year. Which leads to the next big happening of today…

Thank you, Grandma Vicki, for helping get our glue bottles refilled and unclogged. It’s a hard part of the end of the school year!

Handing out the Golden Letters during Show and Tell.

A painted caterpillar, a teacher on the lift, violet discoveries, a very clever mama and lining up animals: FRIDAY V WEEK

Once upon a time there was a painting of a caterpillar. It looked a lot like the caterpillar from The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It had a green body, red head, yellow and green eyes, and purple antennae. Then the artist said that they didn’t touch the paper with any paintbrushes or their hands. What? How did the paint get on there?!?

Read on to learn more about the painted caterpillar, a teacher on the lift, violet discoveries, a very clever mama and lining up animals.

How did the paint get on the paper?

By making a print! Ms Kristin made the print board many years ago. By painting the foam pieces, we have something to press the paper on.

How did Ms Kristin get the wheels downstairs?

In the lift! She went outside to the outside closet, waved at the children inside and then brought in wheels for us to use.

There was incredible natural teamwork in using these riding toys.

What did we call purple things today?

Violet!

This also means that just like an orange is orange, the violets we made are violet!

What did Jackson’s mama buy us for snack today?

Violet grape Powerade, Velveeta mac and cheese and vanilla cookies. Jackson was very clear to make sure we knew his mama went to the store and was smart to find all the V things.

Thank you, Jackson and your clever mama! We tagged on to our Circle Time conversation that we weren’t just a little grateful, we were VERY grateful.

Was there an animal for every letter of the alphabet?

Yes…and some letters had more than one animal! Great team work again!

We hope you have a VERY happy day!
