$9 well spent on dot stickers.
we read ten black dots as inspiration. dots can be the start of many things: balloons, train wheels, eyeballs…
they can also be counted. and sorted by color. and lined up.
we also did D writing and dark color drawing and a couple of friends got a sparkly D on their journals:
what a delightful week!
c is for circle journal work
c is for caterpillars, crabs and {a dog named} coco
children are invited to bring something every day for show and tell. since it was c week last week, we had cute dolls, cars, candy corn, calculators, computers, coins, copper crayons, corn, pictures of c named siblings, stuffed cats and caterpillars and so much more. but there were three things that would not have been safe in the show and tell basket:
caterpillars, hermit crabs and a dog named coco.

thank you, families, for making the extra effort!
c is for climb
i wonder where you can climb?
honestly, there were places climbed that i didn’t think would be.
and no injuries! the patience these classes have with each other and themselves has a lot to do with it, i think. the joy filled motivation is clear.

watching children use their bodies as they know they can is cool.
climb, children, climb!
f is for (trying to make a rainbow) fan
a friend posted this idea on facebook and by the time preschool started I had removed the front grate of a fan. i had have great hopes of it turning out like the photos on facebook: a moving rainbow of colors. we did plug it in for a peek and saw more of a golden whirl rather than rainbow.
but we won’t quit! b was for blade, c is for color, d will be for dangerous to do this unless the fan is for sure unplugged, e for electricity, f for fan, g for green, h for high (medium – low), etc…that’s how we do things. maybe paint?
