touching on the concepts of symmetry and leaves changing colors in autumn, we made leaves. on a precut leaf shape out of big manila paper, preschoolers drew with red and yellow crayons where they wanted the paint.
a teacher covered their lines with paint
folded over and rubbed like crazy (without worrying about paint that sneaks out)
and the best part: opening!
we’ve done this for hearts and valentines and butterflies, but not leaves before.
